The first step in planning an effective priesthood-centered activity program is to determine the needs and interests of each Quorum/Crew member. The
Venturer Interest Survey form is designed for this purpose. (See Venturing Leardership Handbook, pages Y-30, Y-31, Y-45, Y-48). The next step is for Quorum/Crew officers to meet (usually as part of a Crew
Officers's Seminar) to plan activities for the next 12 months. The 12 month calendar is sometimes described as a skeleton plan, which includes

superactivity place and dates, and

for midweek activity nights, the dates for

Crew business meetings

Combined YM-YW activities, and

(c)

Rotating experience area assignments for the remaining dates. (Some specific activities
might be identified for these dates, along with any themes or specialties that Crew members desire for all or a portion of the coming year.)

From this 12 month program, the Quorum/Crew Presidency, meeting monthly, prepares a more detailed listing of proposed activities for the next three months,
keeping in mind the mission of the Church, Aaronic Priesthood purposes, and the needs and desires of Quorum/Crew members. Specific activities identified should
be related both to one of the six Venturing experience areas and also one of the six Aaronic Priesthood purposes, assuring that an interesting, and well rounded,
program exists that furthers the mission of the Church. It would be ideal to try to schedule activities which correlate with lessons to be taught in Quorum meetings.
(For example, if a series of lessons on missionary work are planned, activities might also have a missionary preparation priesthood purpose. A Fitness activity might be
to learn about missionary physical fitness programs or a Social activity could be planned to invite non-member friends to a Church visiter center.)
From the detailed 3-month calendar, individual youth activity chairmen prepare
exact plans for specific activities. The recommended steps by the activity chairman are:
(1)
Work with a consultant and other committee members as needed to work out details of the plan for the activity. (Ideally
this would be the young man's father).
(2)
Record the plan on the Activity Planner sheet provided by the Crew Secretary.
(3)
Present the proposal for approval to the Crew at its monthly business meeting, and make agreed upon changes.
(4)
Lead and carry out the activity.
(5)
Participate in evaluating the activity at the next available Crew meeting.
This cycle continues to be pushed forward each month through the Quorum/Crew
Presidency meetings. At the same time, a planning committee is working on preparations for the yearly Crew superactivity.
